Welcome to the Homepage of Subhadra Gupta

Dr. Subhadra Gupta is a Professor Emerita of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. She was also Adjunct Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Founding Director of the UA Micro-Fabrication Facility (MFF). She joined the faculty in January 2004. She holds M.S. (1978) and Ph.D. (1981) degrees in Physics from the University of Cincinnati. From 1981 to 1985, she was a Senior Research Engineer at Westinghouse R&D Center. She served as Senior Scientist, Manager of the Thin Films Lab and PVD Process Development at Materials Research Corporation, Sony Corporation and Veeco Instruments from 1985 to 2000. Prior to coming to the University of Alabama, she served as Director of Technology for KDF from 2000 to 2004. During her 21 years at UA, Dr. Gupta has graduated eight PhD students in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science and Physics, respectively, and six Master’s students. She has attracted external funding from the National Science Foundation and DARPA, as well as several industries. Dr. Gupta has 80 publications and five inventions. She is a Fellow of the American Vacuum Society.
